When Your Survival Is At Risk
What to do when natural disasters threaten your survival.
Disaster is eminent and survival is critical. The question isn’t whether or not disaster will strike, it’s where will disaster strike and will you be there when it happens. When your survival is at risk, you can’t leave anything to chance and the best way to ensure your survival is to be prepared should a natural disaster threaten your area.
I’m Ryan Edgerton and I’m going to give you the rundown on what to do when natural disasters threaten your very being.
Be Aware of Your Surroundings
The first step towards ensuring your survival is to constantly be aware of your surroundings. That doesn’t mean that you have to walk around being as jittery as a wary cat, but you should know what’s going on around you at all times.
If there’s a sudden green-skied calm in the middle of a thunderstorm, chances are a tornado is coming. If there’s a sudden change in sea level, a tsunami might be on the way. Feel a rumble in the ground? It may be the beginning of an earthquake. Paying attention to what’s going on around you is critical to your survival.
Be Prepared
Your survival also depends on your preparation before a disaster hits. Make sure that you’ve got an emergency survival kit and that you have at least three days of food and water on hand.
Without food and water, your chances of survival are drastically deceased, so having food and water in your emergency survival kit is critical. Also make sure that you have clothing, water, blankets and an emergency radio and flashlight with extra batteries. Having these supplies on hand will greatly increase your chances of survival should a natural disaster strike your area.
Have a Plan
Knowing what’s coming isn’t going to do your survival any good if you don’t have a plan. Make sure you know what to do to ensure your survival when disaster strikes.
There’s a tornado coming. Know where in your house to go. There’s a tsunami on the way. Get to high ground. There’s an earthquake. Know what to do. The list goes on, but it’s important to know exactly what to do and where to go when disaster strikes -- your survival could depend on it.
