The Top Five Survival Supplies
The top five survival supplies that everyone should have.
Without survival supplies, you may find yourself in a dangerous situation should a disaster strike. Survival supplies are supplies that you need in order to ensure your survival. I’m Ryan Edgerton and I’m going to review the top five survival supplies that everyone should have in their survival kits.
Survival Supplies #1 -- Water
Water is one of the few things your body absolutely cannot live without and if you find yourself in a situation where water is not readily available, you’re going to be glad that you had some stored away for an emergency. Make sure that you have enough water to last you and your family for at least three days.
Survival Supplies #2 -- Food
In addition to water, your body needs food in order to survive. Because of this you’re going to want to have non-perishable goods stored away in case of an emergency. Like water, make sure that you have at least three days of food on hand and be sure that you have a non-electric can opener stored with the food so you can access any canned goods should you need to.
Survival Supplies #3 -- Clothing
If you find yourself in the middle of a disaster, you’re going to need a change of clothes. Since you don’t know how long you’ll be displaced, two days worth of clothing should be packed for an emergency. This will give you ample supply to change and wash clothing as needed.
Survival Supplies #4 -- First Aid Kit
In case of a medical emergency, you’re going to want a first aid kit handy. When I say a first aid kit, I don’t just mean a few band-aids and some rubbing alcohol. I mean medications, antiseptics, bandages, medical tape, scissors, surgical needles and strong thread. Also make sure you have enough prescription medication to last you at least three to four days.
Survival Supplies #5 -- A Blanket
You’ve got food, water, clothing and your first aid kit. The next thing you need is shelter and a blanket may be the only shelter you’ve got for the next few days. A water resistant and fire resistant blanket is best. You can find these at most camping supply shops. Make sure you have at least one blanket for each member of your family, with two blankets for each family member being ideal.
While it may seem like survival supplies are a hassle to put together, if you find yourself in the middle of an emergency, you’ll be glad you took the time to do it.
