Do you have emergency supplies in case you need them? Do you know what emergency supplies are and what they include? If you’ve answered no to any of the above questions, you’re in serious need of a crash course in emergency supplies.

I’m Ryan Edgerton and I’m going to tell you what you need to know in regards to emergency supplies. You’ll learn what you need and what they can do for you.

Emergency Supplies #1 -- Food

Food is a vital part of your emergency supplies. Without food you can’t survive and you definitely won’t have the strength to make it through the disaster. Every great emergency supplies kit has at least three days of food. Make sure they’re non-perishable foods and that you have a non-electric can opener with your food so you can open any canned goods.

Emergency Supplies #2 -- Water

The only thing your body needs more than it needs food is water. Without water, you’ll perish. Whether you have bottled water or bagged water in your emergency supplies kit does not matter, the important thing is that you have enough water to last you and your family for at least three days if not a few weeks.

Emergency Supplies #3 -- First-Aid Kit

A first-aid kit will be an essential item in your emergency supplies kit. Your first-aid kit should include items like bandages, medical tape, gauze, ace bandages, Tylenol, rubbing alcohol, Pepto Bismol, hydrogen peroxide, medical scissors, surgical thread and a surgical needle. These emergency supplies will help you deal with small medical emergencies that might arise.

Emergency Supplies #4 -- An Emergency Radio

An emergency radio is a must-have for any emergency situation. An emergency radio will let you listen to local news broadcasts and any Emergency Alert System instructions and alerts.

Emergency Supplies #5 -- A Flashlight and Batteries

You’re going to need to be able to see where you’re going at all times and the only surefire way of ensuring you’ll be able to is with a flashlight and extra batteries. Make sure that you have a heavy-duty flashlight packed away in your emergency kit and a supply of extra batteries so you don’t run out of flashlight power.

By making sure that you have the above emergency supplies on hand, you’ll be able to sit out disaster until help arrives or until it is safe for you to travel and evacuate.
